Charlatan is a dense, imaginative gourmand that subverts the category by pairing indulgent sweets with earthy, atmospheric textures. It opens with an immediate contrast: the crisp, watery sweetness of pear meeting the dark, powdery bitterness of chocolate. This isn’t a sugary candy-shop scent; it feels more like a decadent dessert served in a cool, damp garden. The heart introduces the fragrance's most distinct signature—black truffle. This earthy, slightly savory note grounds the floral bouquet of Damask rose and Moroccan jasmine, preventing the blend from becoming cloying. As it settles, the fragrance transitions into a creamy, resinous warmth. The base is built on a foundation of vanilla and sandalwood, but the addition of osmanthus adds a unique apricot-leather quality that bridges the gap between the floral heart and the woody dry down. Wearing Charlatan feels like a sophisticated evening out; it is rich and enveloping, carrying a weighty texture that feels most at home in crisp air and low light.
