What does Cabal pour Homme smell like?

Cabal pour Homme is a distinctively sweet and spicy fragrance that leans into the gourmand category with a mature, oriental twist. It opens with a crisp hit of bergamot and cool mint, though the freshness is quickly joined by the pungent warmth of cardamom. As it settles, the heart reveals a spicy core of cinnamon and lavender, softened by the delicate, fruity touch of apple blossom. This combination creates a profile that is bold and aromatic, providing a more "adult" take on sweetness compared to typical youthful office scents. The dry down is where the fragrance finds its true character, grounding the initial spice in a dense, balsamic base. Heavy notes of vanilla and tonka bean provide a persistent sweetness, while sandalwood and Virginia cedar add a necessary woody structure that keeps the scent from becoming overly cloying. Musk rounds out the base, giving the fragrance a soft, skin-like finish. Wearing it feels warm and substantial, making it a reliable choice for those who want a scent that lingers with a woody, oriental depth.

The fragrance is widely recognized as an exceptional value alternative to Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male, with many enthusiasts noting that it offers a spicier, more mature variation of that famous DNA.
Performance is a major selling point within the community; it is frequently cited for having better-than-average longevity and projection for its price point, often behaving more like an Eau de Parfum than a standard EDT.
While the opening can have a brief synthetic or alcoholic sharpness, users agree that it settles quickly into a sophisticated gourmand profile that belies its budget-friendly origins.
It is most highly recommended for cold weather use, specifically during winter and fall, and is often selected as a "night out" or evening fragrance due to its intense sweetness.
Comparisons are also drawn to Mugler’s A*Men, with some reviewers finding the two nearly identical in their sweet-spicy gourmand approach, though Cabal is noted for being less polarizing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this compare to Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male?+

Cabal pour Homme is frequently described as a spicier, more sophisticated version of Le Male. While it shares the core lavender and vanilla sweetness, the addition of cardamom and various woods gives it a darker, more "grown-up" feel at a significantly lower price point.

Is this suitable for office wear?+

Because it is quite sweet and spicy with strong projection, it is generally better suited for evening wear, leisure, or nights out. In a professional office setting, the tonka and vanilla notes might be considered too bold, especially in warmer months.

Does Cabal pour Homme last all day?+

Many users report solid performance, with the scent typically lasting over five hours on the skin. It is known for having a strong presence during the first few hours before settling into a consistent woody-vanilla base.

Which season is best for wearing this fragrance?+

This is primarily a cool-weather scent. Its warmth and spicy accords perform best in the winter and fall, as the heavy sweetness can become overwhelming in high summer heat.
