Mutiny is an subversion of the traditional tuberose fragrance, stripping away the powdery, "vintage" cliches often associated with the flower. Instead, Dominique Ropion presents a multifaceted tuberose that feels deconstructed and raw. The opening hits with a sharp, green edge provided by galbanum and bitter orange tree absolute, which provides a crisp, vegetal snap that immediately signals this isn't a standard floral. As it settles, the fragrance reveals a complex heart where the creamy, white floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom are toughened up by a distinct leathery accord and spicy saffron. There is a perceptible weight to the scent, grounded by the dryness of cedarwood and the resinous, slightly smoky quality of frankincense and mastic. The finish brings in a smooth vanilla and oud base, though the oud remains subtle, acting more as a structural anchor than a dominant animalic force.
