How does this compare to the other fragrances in Hermès' Jardin collection?+−
Un Jardin en Méditerranée is the first entry in the collection and arguably its most grounded — it leans into green, earthy fig and dry Mediterranean botanicals more than the others. Un Jardin sur le Nil goes greener and more vegetal with tomato-leaf and lotus; Un Jardin après la Mousson is heavier on ginger and rain-soaked woods; Le Jardin de Monsieur Li moves toward a mossy, aquatic green. Méditerranée has a warm, dry quality that makes it feel like the most sun-baked of the group.
Is the Parfum concentration worth the premium over the Eau de Toilette?+−
The Parfum concentration should theoretically address the most common complaint about this fragrance — that the EDT fades faster than you'd like for the price. If longevity is your primary concern with the original, the Parfum offers more depth and staying power. That said, part of Ellena's design philosophy is deliberate lightness, so even in Parfum form this isn't a powerhouse projection scent. Whether that premium is worth it depends on how much the moderate performance of the EDT bothers you.
Is this fragrance better for men or women?+−
It was designed as unisex and wears comfortably as either. The fig leaf and cypress give it a dry, slightly austere quality that reads as cleanly masculine on some, while the orange blossom adds warmth that skews it softer on others. It genuinely tends to read differently skin-to-skin, which is part of what makes it interesting as a shared fragrance.
